The Job Board Report: Remote Jobs

Another Job Board Report is here. This edition is all about finding remote jobs.

While many big tech companies are mandating a return to office policy, there are still many companies hiring remotely.

You just have to know where to look.

Let's get into it.

This week's focus: Remote Job Boards

Review: RemoteWoman and RemotePOC

  • Overview
-- Both Remote Woman and Remote POC are job boards focused on the intersection of remote jobs targeting women and People of Color respectively.

  • Who it’s good for
-- Women and POC job seekers looking for jobs in Marketing, Design, Development, Product, Sales, or Support.

  • Pros
-- Remote Woman has 4000+ roles posted on their job board.
-- Both job boards have major tech companies (Hubspot, Zapier, NYT, Wikipedia, etc) posting open roles
-- Many job postings have the salary listed

  • Cons
-- If you are not looking for jobs in one of 6 job categories above these job boards are not useful for you.
-- There is no search bar on the home page of either site (it's in the drop down menu to the top) so the UI is a little frustrating at first.

  • Unique features
-- The founder of both these job boards, Jaira, has a podcast where she interviews women who work remotely to uncover the real stories of remote workers.
-- The RemotePOC job board has a section for paid internships which is cool.
-- Both job boards also have associated Slack communities where recruiter source directly and you can network with others in your field.

  • Ease of use rating - 4/5

  • Job quality rating - 3/5 (because of the limited job categories)

Tips for using this job board

  • Sign up for their job alerts (and pick your target role) to receive new jobs directly in your inbox, that way you can get a sense of the roles that get posted without needing to search the sites.

Save these to your job board folder if it's helpful. Happy hunting!
