Employers Really Hope You’ll Ace their Interview Process

Here are some truthful gems about the interview process.

Contrary to popular belief, the job search process is not a rejection process.

Yup - it's called a hiring process for a reason.

Employers are really hoping you'll succeed in their interviews… so they can hire you.

It’s that simple.

The truth is, filling a new role is very time-consuming and costly for a company.

They’re often spending $10K+ in the process. And trust me, most of them needed to fill the role yesterday.

So when employers interview you, they're really are hoping you'll be the one.

In fact, it’s their dream for you to crush the interview.

Many job seekers mistakenly approach the job search process as ‘me against the company’ or 'me against the other candidates.'

But I think it's a flawed mindset that doesn't help you get very far in the process.

Interviewing is not like school, where you study for the test and if you know the right answers, you pass.

NAH.

Interviewing is a bit more complex.

Hiring teams are made up of real people just like you and me.

Success in an interview requires a basic understanding of human psychology.

Have empathy for the other side, and recognize the real game you are playing.

FACT: the game isn't you against the company or other candidates, it's you against yourself.

If you want to start acing your interviews you must have confidence in your value and learn to convey your skills effectively.

Remember, the hiring team is looking to solve their own pain points by hiring for this role.

Use that to your advantage: figure out what they need, give compelling examples and tell relavant stories to signal that you’re their top candidate

Look at the interview process more from the hiring team's perspective to gain insight into what they might want to hear from candidates.

This can help you understand how to position yourself in a more compelling way to them.

Then show how you’re the most qualified person to handle their problems.

Each round is a chance for you to help employers understand how you can bring value to the team if you get hired.

Show them how you’ve had an impact in your past work, so they can visualize you having impact in their company.

Employers can’t infer your qualifications if you don’t show them what you got.

It's your job to learn how to be a standout candidate.

Just remember, they really want to hire you.

Keep your head in the game and keep improving. We’re all rooting for you!
