Most of you understand the concept of casting a wide net in your job search - it’s partially a numbers game after all.

Don’t apply to all the different jobs you *could* do, apply only to the single type of job you want next. 

Forget aimlessly applying online, or tailoring your resume to every job posting. ☠️

It’s a waste of your time and it doesn't move the needle in your job search. 

Instead do this - get super clear on what role you want next and then pursue it relentlessly.

The fact is, hiring managers want to hire candidates who know what they want. 

If you are applying to all kinds of different jobs, your career narrative will be weak and vague because you have to change it for each interview process.

Hiring teams can sense when you're not sure what you want, and it usually it doesn't bode well for you.

You master the interview process by sticking to one target role in your job search and becoming the most compelling candidate who can articulate what they want. 

2️⃣ Target your resume and LinkedIn profile toward your next desired role.

Your career materials need to be branded clearly toward the next job you want.

If your professional brand is not clear within a few seconds, you are missing out on opportunities. Full stop.

Make sure your accomplishments are clear, relevant, and sharp on your resume and LinkedIn.

Think of both as your personal sales pages. They need to convert to conversations and interviews.

Be concise, show off, and make sure people want to talk to you after seeing your profile.

3️⃣ Target people inside of companies and contact them directly.

Hold up, reach out to strangers?

Yup.

It might fill you with dread to put yourself out there like that, but remember doing so is the fastest way to cut through the noise and get yourself seen by the right people.

The fastest way to get a job is still through people and networks.

Build relationships, ask for introductions, reach out and pitch yourself to hiring managers.
