How to Accelerate Your Job Search Outcomes

If you’ve been searching for a job for more than 3 months without much luck, it might be time to reassess your strategy.

Are you doing any of these low ROI actions in your job search:

  • Sending out just a handful of job applications per week.

  • Only applying to jobs online.

  • Not applying to jobs after you start to interview at a few companies.

  • Applying to jobs in different career paths thinking it's helpful.

If you are doing any of these actions – HOLD UP.

It's definitely time to switch things up and take higher ROI actions that will get you better results.

Listen y'all…don't keep wasting your time.

Low-value actions will ultimately make you burn out before you get the results you want.

Many job seekers spin their wheels in the job search thinking they are doing productive actions, when in fact they are barely moving the needle.

Below I share tips to accelerate your job search outcomes.

Before continuing your job search, ask yourself:

🥥 Is my resume (and LinkedIn profile) clearly branded for my target role?

Your resume represents you when you’re not in the room so it needs to be sharp and on point.

But don’t get it twisted: you shouldn’t tailor your resume for every job.

Build a single master resume for your next career move.

Once it's completed, copy it over to your LinkedIn and spend the majority of your time on trying to get into interviews.


🥥 Am I applying to 30+ jobs per week?

Fill your job funnel non-stop until you have an offer in hand.

If it’s not at least 30 every week, it’s likely not enough.

Also, don’t stop applying when you start interviewing. Because rejections will happen.

Applying for jobs is somewhat the easiest part of the process, so give yourself more chances to win.

Remember job searching is a numbers game, so keep filling your funnel until you have an offer.


🥥 Am I reaching out to hiring managers directly?

Y’all, those 30+ job applications should not just be submitted online.

Ideally, you are sending at least 30 emails directly to people inside the company.

Craft a compelling message and pitch yourself to try and get on a call.

Reaching out to someone inside the company, even if it's not the hiring manager, gets you better results than only applying online.

🥥 Am I tracking all my activities to see what is working?

You need to track your progress to see where to adjust and improve.

Collecting data on your job search is another easy and high-impact action that most job seekers fail to leverage.

Data will help you understand why you might not be converting through various stages of the interview process and what needs to change.

Track everything from the number of applications to the content of your interview answers.



🥥 Am I honing my narrative and answers to common Qs?

You aren't failing to get offers because you are bad at your job.

It might actually just come down to your stories and communication skills.

You must learn how to communicate your value to get offers.

Curate and practice your career narrative and answers.

Tell specific stories to position you as a compelling candidate who can solve the problems the role will face.

There you have it.

Audit your job search and ask yourself if the actions you are taking have a low or high ROI.

If you aren't getting the results you want, switch it up.

Check yourself before you burn out on the job search.
